Former ‘Ibrox great’ Andy Gray has been wheeled out to tell everyone that Danny Röhl must be given the commodity every Ibrox manager never gets. This happens when it comes to catching Celtic…
Time.
When it gets to this point, you know the writing is on the wall.
Its always the same pattern when it comes to Ibrox managers.
Röhl is now in the pressure zone.
Put simply, if he doesn’t win the title this season and its another trophyless season at Ibrox, the klanbase will be calling for his head.
The Record decided to get a pre-emptive strike in yesterday with their Andy Gray story.

When you’re calling on has beens like Andy Gray to tell everyone that the Ibrox manager needs time, then you know trouble is only around the corner for Danny Röhl.
Its also clear that the fear is creeping in across the Ibrox facing media.
The fear that Celtic are now in a very strong position to do something nobody would have thought possible. This is true since Wilfried Nancy departed the club last January.
Winning the double is now a very real possibility.
Here’s some of what Andy Gray had to say in the article in Record:
I would have liked to have seen him be told, ‘Danny, we need to see progress. We need to see us moving away from this boring game that Russell Martin insisted on playing, that R*****s fans hated’.
And he’s done that as well. That first half against Celtic, I thought R*****s played as well as I’ve seen them for a long time. Got 2-0 up, cruising, coasting, total control of the game, and then somehow, somehow we didn’t go over the line.
So it would be unfair to say if you don’t win the league, you’re sacked. I think there’s been a lot of positives in his coaching, and I like to think the boys like him.
Isn’t it ironic that Andy Gray feels that Danny Röhl should be afforded the same luxury Russell Martin should have been afforded?
Russell Martin didn’t get “time” at Ibrox because the klanbase hated him.

And if there’s one thing the klanbase hates more than anything else, its not winning trophies.
That’s why the pressure Röhl is going to be feeling in this season’s run in will be savage.
The same cannot be said about his counterpart at Celtic.
Martin O’Neill has been in this position before, and he knows exactly what it takes to get it over the line.
He has also been in a similar position during the final season in his first stint at Celtic. In that season, he lost a title in the bitterest of circumstances.
That will be to the forefront of his mind for this run in.
O’Neill will want to make sure Celtic are not in a position where the title goes down to the wire on the final day of the season.
He will want to ensure Celtic have already done the business against Hearts and the Ibrox side before we reach the home straight.
That’s what the manager will prioritise from here on out.
As for his opposite number at Ibrox?
Danny Röhl doesn’t deserve time.
If he finishes this season trophyless, he should be getting the door, and you know why?
Because he has been given every possible benefit he could to win this title.
He has had sterling help from the Lanarkshire Referees association.
He has been fully backed by the Ibrox board when it comes to transfers.
And finally, he has had to face the weakest Celtic side since the early 1990’s.
If he is incapable of winning a trophy under those circumstances, then he’s clearly not cut out for life in the Scottish Premiership.
In fact, I’m surprised that the klanbase aren’t baying for blood at this point.
They have been shockingly patient by their standards, if you ask me.
But I get the feeling their patience will run out if Röhl fails to deliver the holy grail by the end of this season.
Because as we all know, the Ibrox side own the title.
They only lent it to is until they could get back on their feet.
Hey, its not their fault it has taken them 14 years and counting.
Its Celtic, and everybody else’s fault.
Isn’t it always?
