Season-ticket sales generate tens of millions more every year.

If Arne Engels, Alistair Johnston and Reo Hatate also leave before the transfer window closes, reported fees could comfortably exceed another £60 million.

The money is there.

That is why so many supporters struggle to understand why every negotiation seems to become a saga.

The timing could hardly be more important.

The Celtic Board Must Match Their Ambition With Their Resources

Qualification for the Champions League league phase is reportedly worth around £40 million.

That prize should encourage boldness rather than hesitation.

Instead, there remains the possibility that Celtic could lose established players before every replacement is through the door.

Supporters have seen this film before.

Martin O’Neill has publicly backed the board, and that is his right.

However, many supporters no longer have that same confidence.

Faith is earned through actions, not words.

If Celtic genuinely want to maximise their potential, several changes seem obvious.

• Complete priority signings before European qualifiers.
• Stop allowing negotiations to drag on over relatively small differences.
• Use Celtic’s financial strength instead of appearing overly cautious.
• Identify replacements before selling first-team players.
• Bring in the best football recruitment specialists available.
• Show greater urgency throughout every transfer window.
• Match the club’s financial power with genuine football ambition.

None of those expectations are unreasonable.

Nobody expects Celtic to spend recklessly.

Nobody expects the club to win every transfer battle.

Supporters simply expect Celtic to behave like one of the strongest financial clubs in Scotland.

This criticism does not come from negativity.

It comes from ambition.

Celtic should be setting the standard, not reacting to everyone else.

Martin O’Neill still believes this Celtic Board will come good.

I genuinely hope he is right.

However, until supporters see quicker decisions, earlier signings and a transfer strategy that reflects Celtic’s financial strength, many will continue asking the same question every summer.
