If Derek McInnes could have pictured the worst possible kind of start to his Ibrox tenure, it couldn’t be any worse than this.

By Thursday night, it could be in tatters if his side is headed for the Europa Conference League.

The misery at Ibrox was further compounded today by the fact Celtic’s new striker scored a hat-trick in his second outing, helping Celtic to a 5-1 win at Rugby Park.

There was a stench of real fear around Ibrox when news emerged Celtic had secured Kasper Høgh, after today, the place reeks of it.

The bears have turned on each other in the Bear pit, and boy is it a sight to behold.

Utterly incapable of changing.

No, please, please, never change.

Never change who you are because we just love you for it.

You provide us with hours and days of amusement, and considering how poor our summer has been, we need as much of it as we can get.

McInnes is hammering his head off it.

But before a ball was kicked, it was all about Staunchy McStauncherton.

When will you Ibrox fools realise that staunch doesn’t win football matches?

All the platform brogues, all the club blazers and ties in the world do not win a football game.

But you all fell for that crap hook, line, and sinker as soon as Del walked in the door.

That’s worked out well, hasn’t it?

I never imagined we’d be drinking it in this early in the season, yet here we are.

I could trawl it all day and inject it into my veins.

Add the ease with which we dismantled arch hun Neil McCann’s Kilmarnock, and as Sunday’s go, this one doesn’t get much better.

The only concern we have after a performance like that is that the Celtic board will tie the purse strings in a quadruple treble knot, and tell us we don’t need any more players.

We were imperious today.

33 attempts on goal, with 16 on target.

We could easily have reached double figures if we’d been more clinical.

But I’ll take 5-1 and a thrashing for the Hun.
