Team news: Celtic v Brechin City (H)

Scottish Cup holders Celtic return to domestic action after their winter break trip to Dubai to face Brechin City on Saturday afternoon.

The Championship side after currently 16-points adrift at the bottom of the table, and will be looking to cause a huge upset against Scotland’s number one club at Celtic Park.

With just one win in the last two months coming in the third round of the Scottish Cup, Darren Dods are struggling for form and will look for a good performance to spark a change in their fortunes.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have already secured one of the three available domestic trophies as they look to secure an illustrious double-treble.

Stuart Armstrong, Patrick Roberts and Marvin Compper will all be out of action for up to a month with a hernia, hamstring and calf injury, respectively.

Tom Rogic is still out for another six or eight weeks after he spent the Christmas break in Australia recovering from a knee injury.

Leigh Griffiths twisted his ankle and is a doubt for Saturday’s 3pm kick-off.

Anthony Ralston trained during the winter break in Dubai and could return to action in the coming games having each spent three months on the sidelines.

Jonny Hayes is out for the rest of the season with a broken leg he suffered last month.

Brechin City

The away side have no fresh injury concerns or suspensions ahead of the game.
