The Record hits a new low with their brutal “Man City’s Ederson takes ‘inspiration’ from McGregor after Celtic’s penalty miss” story

Before I even delve into this story, I want to state something first, I sincerely doubt that Man City’s Ederson would look to ex-Ibrox keeper Allan McGregor for any kind of inspiration, ever.

In any way, shape or form.

This story tries to make it’s readers think that he actually does, but clearly Ederson wishes to examine Odsonne Edouard’s penalty taking style.

Allan McGregor had nothing to do with his wish to understand how Edouard would take a penalty for Crystal Palace.

So, the fact that Robbie Copeland would try to make this piece of drivel about that, is as stupid as it is desperate.

I know they need good news stories over Ibrox way at the moment, but this?

Jesus wept.

It’s painful.

Not only is it painful, it highlight’s the brutal editorial standards of that paper.

Just take a look at the headline for starters:

I mean, does anybody look at these articles before they get published?

Is there any sort of quality check on them?

Christ, I’m just a blogger, but I at least read and self edit my articles before I publish them.

I have some modicum of pride in what I do.

You’ll see exactly what I mean as we delve further into this garbage.

But to allow a headline like that to go to press?

When clearly it has nothing to do with Ederson taking R*****s inspiration.

It’s clear nobody gives a flying f£$% about standards at that paper.

And no, Ederson sure as hell didn’t take any inspiration from Allan McGregor either.

As I stated earlier, Ederson was examining Odsonne Edouard’s penalty taking style, not McGregor

Now, it appears to me that Copeland is a loose cannon, because his story is bullshit.

He cannot even get the facts straight in it, and if anybody actually edited it, they’d have picked up on that.

Have a look at this:

Their famous accomplishment was tracked by Netflix cameras, as the Together: Treble Winners documentary tracked it all from the first kick of a ball.

Copeland must have wet himself when he saw the tiny clip of Ederson watching Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard miss a penalty against the Ibrox side.

So much so, that he completely forgot to get his facts straight in this article.

For starters, Man City did not win the treble last season.

They won the Premier League.

Nothing else domestically.

And they won the European Super Cup, and the World Club Championship.

A treble of sorts, I guess, but not the kind Copeland states they won.

Copeland goes on to state that City won an historic treble in the 2023/24 season.

As in the Premier League, FA Cup, and the Champions League.

Eh, no they didn’t.

I’ve just stated what they won in the 2023/24 season.

Somehow, Copeland believes they won the Champions League in 2024, when they actually beat Inter Milan 1-0 in the 2023 Champions League final.

How in Jesus name could he go to press with his facts so off point?

While Copeland thought it would be great to state that Ederson took inspiration from Allan McGregor, he totally contradicts himself with the below conclusion to his article:

Edouard, though not Palace’s starting striker at the time, was one of the likely penalty takers given his formidable record from 12 yards – he only missed two of the 11 he took while in Glasgow. One of those was against Allan McGregor at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup round of 16, and a brief one-second clip shows Ederson watching that moment to study Edouard’s likely technique.

Seriously, a one second clip was enough to inspire you to throw away any journalistic standards you might have had?

Not only that, but the bullshit claim that Ederson was taking “inspiration” from Allan McGregor makes Copeland look like the desperate Ibrox cheerleader he is.

It’s pathetic.

Cringeworthy click-bait.

And clearly, whoever edits this garbage was posted missing, or just didn’t give a toss.

No wonder this paper’s daily numbers are plummeting.

With shite like this, you can see exactly why.
