When Captain Jean Luc Picard took the helm at Ibrox, he knew eventually there was going to have to be a reality check.
He has taken his time in delivering said reality check since his arrival.
For the good Captain, he is a rare realist, amongst thousands of fantasists.
For almost thirteen years now, they have lived in a fantasy land at Ibrox.
In a place where there was a firm belief that money actually does grow on trees.
They have fantasised, and to be fair, still do fantasise, about emulating the club that died over a decade ago.
That was another enterprise that was built in a fantastical time.
Where the idea of floating pitches and casinos was floated, along with a desperation to win the one thing Celtic had that they did not.
Old big ears.
Complete and utter fantasy, all of it.
And a fantasy that killed the old club in the end.
But finally, it looks as if the penny has finally dropped at Ibrox.

At least for Captain Jean Luc Picard it has anyway.
And for the Belgian Waffler, who keeps harping on about the fact that Celtic has more money than his club has.
A harsh reality that cannot be avoided.
But one that he seems to think is a valid cop out all of the time lately.
The Belgian waffler would do well to remember that he only dropped 3 points to the financial behemoth that is Celtic this season.
So one wonders why he continually blames the financial disparity between us and them for all of the other points his side has dropped this season?
Is it because we can win against the sides that he can’t?
He does seem to have a bit of an obsession with us though, doesn’t he?
I suppose we Celtic fans are delighted to have him too, though.
He is after all, a great entertainer.
So good, that they’re determined to keep him at Ibrox.

Despite the express wishes of the klanbase, and Kris Boyd, of course.
And what came as music to my ears today is the fact they’re even going to give him a modest transfer kitty in this current window.
Although, during the loving cup ceremony last week, it would appear Peter Lawwell had a word in Captain Jean Luc Picard’s ear.
Read this from his address to the Ibrox nation in the Record today:
But Stewart stressed Gers will walk away from negotiations this month if they decide deals don’t represent value for money. He said: “There have been some exceptions but if you look at the January window generally it isn’t particularly fruitful.
Now, where have we heard that before?
I suspect value for money is a very important aspect of any transfer dealings going forward at Ibrox.
Especially when there is very little of it available.
But the good Captain did state that they would not be tempted to sell the latest Ibrox wunderkind.
Despite reported interest from Everton.
The eternal hope, I would imagine, is that the little Moroccan ex-soldier bags another 10 or so goals this season, both in Europe and domestically.
Thus increasing his already soaring value exponentially.
In which case he would become what is a rare commodity at Ibrox, a valuable asset.

Now, upon reading Captain Jean Luc Picard’s address to the Ibrox nation today, I got the distinct impression he plans on building something from the ground up at Ibrox.
Sort of like what Fergus McCann did at Celtic Park over three decades ago now.
However, he may encounter a little bit of resistance in this endeavour.
In fact, I think it’s fair to say that he is already.
The klanbase is not known for it’s patience.
Instantaneous success is what they want.
Building things is for people like Bob the Builder and his ragtag assortment of machinery.
As a result of today’s reality check, the klanbase is going to vote with it’s feet.
They’ve made it clear they are unwilling to bear witness to the shitshow being orchestrated by the Belgian Waffler.
Enough is enough, they say.
So, for tomorrow, there’s going to be a blue sea at Ibrox for the St. Johnstone game.
A blue sea of empty seats.
It is tragic, isn’t it?
Captain Jean Luc Picard wishes to impose austerity for a while, and they’re just not having it.

So instead, they’re going to impose austerity on him, and his board.
Ah well, one must admit, it is a good time to be Tim.
Watching Billy descend into meltdown makes for great watching.
Thank you Jean Luc, and of course Philippe, from the bottom of our green hearts.
We wish you every success on the road to stability.
It will, however, take decades.
And we’re talking from experience here.
Just so you know.
Possibly by 2045 you might be able to lay a glove on us.
Bonne chance!
Please remember that it’s means it is. Its without apostrophe is the possessive
You’d better take that up with WordPress and their WordPress engine, because it inserts them in there automatically….
Popcorn 🍿 Popcorn 🍿 Popcorn 🍿😋
MILK LEMONADE CHOCOLATE
Jim you raging?
Good read, thank you.
Chance is feminine in French so the correct phrase would be bonne chance. Otherwise grammatically ok.
The gift that just keeps giving 🤣🤣
As much as I love Celtic beating them, I’m quite happy for them to die again ………
The planets are all aligning..
If the zombies decide to bhoycott the games and starve the club of much needed money, the sevco hierarchy have the excuse they’ve been waiting for, to get OUT the hole they’re in… they can hit the ADMIN button in February and blame the zombies… BOOM!
Onwards and OUTwards:-)
From those of us that stood in the Kerrydale car park 31 years ago and forced change.Alot of pain ahead, and alot of you may not live to see a successful club again but that’s the way it has to be from here on in.Do yous understand From the ground up?decades guys.
Hi Eric ,first off ,love the trinity tims podcast.Brilliant! They were F***ED when the bunnet turned up.Martin O’Neill provided the stake in the black heart. Now we get to sit back and watch them implode.👍
Although I might add Igamanne could be a good start to a player trading model,if you don’t give in to “fan power”
Well written and observed Eric, long may they suffer.God bless Fergus McCann.
A wee dose of reality for them today. Not that they will grasp what Paddy was alluding to.
I am sure that most of them do not grasp just how bad things are over there. It’s quite amusing that all the bad news was being spelled out to them by a guy with a feniany sounding name.
Celtic fans and bloggers have been doing that for as long as I can remember but they haven’t been listening.
Mainstream media in Scotland doesn’t help mind you. God knows how they can put a positive spin on Paddy’s news today but I’m sure they’ll manage somehow.
Clement needs to stop making comments about Celtics finances. He doesn’t say a word about the gulf in finances between his club and the ones who have taken points off them so far this season.
The rangers have a bigger budget than all of them so his argument doesn’t stand up and he should concentrate on trying to sort out the shambles at his own club.
Good luck with that Phil 😆😆
We love the Belgian waffler. We even threw a league match to save his job.
A lot of wishful comments on here though, 20 years from now some form of hate monger sewer trolls will be occupying Ibrokes and getting away with calling themselves the same club that existed in the 20th century.
The league will fall into line with the delusion out of fear of losing revenue and the powers that be at Celtic will do nothing about it via legal channels or otherwise because they don’t care about the fans and history, only about building their personal wealth.
Where the idea of floating pitches and casinos was floated… sounds like a lot of helium balloons.
They had a proper billionaire there several years ago who would have sorted them out as proper business”but picked Davie boy king”instead and all his bullshit . So Mike Ashley moved on what bunch of idiots.
