A proper rebuild is inbound. And when I actually list it out, it’s hard to ignore how big it is for Celtic this summer.
it adds up to something close to £120 million in movement.
Today we will look at what this could entail as well as what we will need to sign.

£120 Million Incoming Reset – Are We Actually Ready For This?
Celtic’s Future with Keepers And Defenders
Start with the keepers.
Schmeichel is gone. Retired and leaving a huge leadership void.
Sinisalo and Doohan are left standing.
Sinisalo feels like a nailed long-term number one but is not ready to be recognised as an out-and-out number one.
So immediately, that’s a problem area.
Then the defence.

Johnston is still key but will be challenging with Canada at a World Cup with crucial champions league qualifiers on the horizon.
Araujo leaves after the end of his loan.
Ralston is depth but can’t be relied on, and Donovan is the long-term development option but not ready to challenge.
Carter-Vickers is still the main man when fit but is coming back from a long-term injury.
Scales has signed a new deal and will stay.
Nawrocki is likely away.
Trusty could leave if the US have a good World Cup and if Florentina reignite their interest.
Arthur is not expected back after his loan has finished.
Murray is an option but has a mistake in him and a loan may do him well.
Welsh will likely go back to the Well.
Tierney will be back after the first week of the World Cup… realistically.
Saracchi could stay or go and Inamura will likely go back to Japan
Montgomery will go back out on loan again with his contract up in 2027.
That’s already a lot of moving parts.
And it’s just the defence…
Celtic’s Midfield Conundrum
Midfield is where it starts to feel like there could be real change.
McGregor will stay, but everything around him will change.

Engels and Nygren both attracting serious interest
Bernardo likely to leave.
With Hatate it feels like a natural time to part ways.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is out of contract.
McCowan has signed a new deal.
Holm has returned to Norway on loan.
We will need to sign potentially 4 or 5 new midfielders.
Attack Needs A Lot Of Work This Summer For Celtic
Attack looks the most volatile of all.
Jota returns from long-term injury. Huge boost.

But Maeda has already hinted at a Premier League move. He is key for us and I’m reluctant to let him leave
And if he goes, that changes the entire system of how we play in Europe.
Balikwisha will leave for Standard Liège, thank god.
Tounekti could leave depending on form and World Cup exposure. I don’t think he’s been incredibly impressive.
Palma is likely to make his loan from Lech Poznan permanent.
Yang will stay and has been impressive.
Forrest has signed a new deal.
Mvuka will leave; I can’t believe we nearly signed him on a permanent deal.
Then up front.
Cvancara, Adamu, Iheanacho is all at the end of loans or contracts.
Kenny is likely loaned out again.
Yamada is back to Japan.
Osmand feels like the only true long-term project striker still in-house.
It’s a lot of turnover in one area.
In Total we could be seeing 25 players leaving and 120 Million in sales.
Now, for what we need… deep breaths, everybody, for this.
What Could Be Coming Into Celtic
A new first-choice goalkeeper.
Right-back competition: hopefully Araujo.
Two centre-backs if exits happen.
Left-back decision: if Saracchi doesn’t stay, is Andy Robertson an option if not? It’s been rumoured.
We need a defensive midfielder to support McGregor; he’s ageing, and this season has proved he can’t play every game.
We need multiple central midfielders.
At least four bodies across different roles to replace Hatate, Nygren, Engels, Bernardo, and Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Right-wing competition for Yang.
Two left-wingers if Maeda and Tounekti go.
Two strikers at minimum are needed for depth and competition.
Not forgetting a new:
Manager
Board
Chief scout
Director of football
Rebuilding On And Off The Park For Celtic
Now the league is over after Saturday. This is where it gets serious about next season.
We can talk about recruitment strategy all we want.
But this summer is about getting bodies in asap.

Because rebuilding a squad is one thing.
Rebuilding so many key areas at once is another.
And don’t forget there is also the issue of building a squad in time for the Champions League playoffs, allowing this squad to settle when a lot of players will be competing in the World Cup.
Also, on the issue of homegrown rules, we need more Scottish-trained players and Celtic-trained players.
Doohan (Celtic), Murray (Celtic), Ralston (Celtic), Donovan (Celtic), Tierney (Celtic), McCowan (Scotland), McGregor (Celtic), and Forrest (Celtic) – these could be the only ones left.
And if this really is around £120 million worth of movement, then key areas off the park need to be sorted asap.
I’d imagine Maloney moving back to his role as director of football, and I could see Scott Brown joining the coaching team.
With rumours of Aiden McGeady being linked to joining the Academy set up.
Of course we all know Nicholson is not fit for the job but I’m more than welcome being proved wrong on the matter but looking at all that’s left to do… it’s exhausting, terrifying and exciting all at the same time.
Key Takeaways
- Celtic faces a major rebuild, potentially involving £120 million in player movements.
- Key positions like goalkeeper, defence, and midfield need immediate attention with many current players likely to leave.
- The attack is also unstable, with several key players hinting at moves, further complicating squad planning.
- Celtic must focus on acquiring multiple players across various positions to prepare for next season and Champions League play.
- Off-the-field adjustments are needed as well, including potentially changing key management roles to facilitate a smooth transition.
Before we address the playing Side and Footballing issues We need Brown and McGeady to GTF followed closely by the Strachan duo.
These jobs are not a charity for the friends of the ‘Man’. For anyone who hasn’t noticed the’Man’ has gone. These posts need filled by serious qualified staff.
What we need for the whole Club is Best in Class for what we can afford.
No CEO, CFO to earn anywhere near a Million.
Celtic are not going to spend 120 million. I also agree with Jimbhoy 66.
YANG. Impressive ? Are you watching the same games as I am. He is absolutely rubbish.
