Are Celtic seriously looking at Kyogo AGAIN as an option to replace, wait for it….Kyogo? No way…

Right?

There’s no way that this can be true.

Since January of 2025, we’ve been waiting for Celtic to properly replace Kyogo Furuhashi.

Last January, we almost ended up replacing Kyogo with guess who?

Yes, Kyogo.

Now, we’re apparently at it again.

Looking to get him in as a striking option after a dismal season at Birmingham, which resulted in the Japanese striker netting a return of just 3 goals.

First things first.

Kyogo is now 31 years of age.

For a striker, that’s pushing on.

Secondly, can somebody honestly tell me why we’d be interested in a striker who only managed 3 goals in the EFL Championship?

Of what benefit would this move be to Celtic?

Kyogo Furuhashi has struggled since he left Celtic early last year.

He didn’t manage to net a single goal at Rennes, and he has just managed 3 at Birmingham City.

Do we believe that a move back to Celtic will genuinely ignite his goal scoring touch again?

The Record is reporting that Celtic has been named as a potential destination.

But apparently this is coming from former Birmingham stirker, Kevin Phillips:

I’ve always liked Kyogo, there’s something there, but we just haven’t really seen it on a regular basis.

There’s no good saying we keep waiting and waiting; he needs to perform. So if he stays, he needs to hit the ground running.

If he doesn’t, I don’t think there’ll be too many Blues fans kicking the door down to say stay if Birmingham were to cash in, whether he went back to Celtic or went somewhere else.

So I would give him the benefit of the doubt and let him start the season.

If it doesn’t quite work out, then maybe look to potentially get him out on loan or move him on before the window shuts.

Clearly the Record are basing the idea of Celtic interest in Kyogo off the back of Phillips’ comments.

They’re saying a return could be on the agenda.

Clearly this is all speculation on their behalf because Celtic really couldn’t be entertaining this, could they?

With a lack of transfer stories from Celtic Park, the Record are going back to this tried and tested well.

I genuinely cannot see this happening.

There are surely plenty of other strikers out there Celtic could be looking at other than Kyogo Furuhashi.

Part of me believes that this could be true.

But then the other part of me says, no way.

The Celtic board couldn’t be considering this, could they?

Nah, there’s no way.
