Eric Knott News appears to have leaked from Celtic Park that the club has declared interest in two more players.
The first is Copenhagen defensive midfielder, William Clem.
Clem is 22 years old and is a Danish under-21.
To date, he has played almost 100 times for Copenhagen.
The Danish club currently value him at €3.5 million (£3 million), so there’s no doubting he’s in Celtic’s magic £3 million price range.
The question here is this, is William Clem plan B if the Mika Baur deal falls through?
Clem plays as a central midfielder, and a defensive midfielder when required.
But as with any negotiation the Celtic board enters into, it’s likely they’ll offer well under his £3 million valuation.
Having said that, we discussed on the Trinity Tims last night that while we might have our striking options looking strong now, both Duran and Høgh will need to be backed up by a solid midfield.
If the board are intent on selling Engels, Hatate, and possibly Callum Mcgregor, then they need to be looking at more options than just Mika Baur.
This is what they could be doing with William Clem.
As I stated earlier today, if the club wants Mika Baur, then we should just pay the £257k Paderborn are looking for to meet his valuation, instead of this ridiculous grandstanding.
Since the departure of Scott Brown in 2021, Celtic have not managed to secure a solid defensive midfield option.
Ironically, the only defensive midfielder we brought in since then was another Danish player, Oliver Abildgaard.
Abildgaard only made six appearances for us during his year long loan at Celtic.
He has since gone on to carve out a decent career in Italy for himself, and is currently playing for Sampdoria.
If Celtic’s interest in Clem turns out to be serious, he doesn’t appear to be a bad option, and he’s well within our price range.
The second player Celtic is reported to be interested in is French under-20 winger, Tidiam Gomis.
19 year old Gomis started his career at French side, Caen, and is now playing in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.
Described as one of the “brightest French players of his generation”, Gomis was subject to interest from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen in the final days of the 2023 summer transfer window.
Although he agreed personal terms with Leverkusen, Caen rejected all offers for the player.
Instead, he ended up being sold to RB Leipzig for €1 million in the 2025 winter window.
RB Leipzig currently value Gomis at €5 million.
The same asking price as Mika Baur, so read into that what you like.
Gomis can play in several positions, he can be used as an all out attacker, and can also play on both wings.
So he would be a pretty versatile option for Celtic.
Gomis has an excellent first touch, and very good close control.
He also has a decent eye for goal.
If you watch the video on him, he is comfortable playing on both wings, and is not afraid to take defenders on.
When he moves into the middle and plays as a direct striker, he’s well able to get himself into scoring positions.
Both Clem and Gomis look like decent options for Celtic.
They are also well within our price range.
We could land both players for just over £7 million.
Once again, it will all boil down to Celtic’s brutal negotiation skills, and I don’t mean brutal in a good way.
As discussed last night on the Trinity Tims, we really need to start upping the pace in this window from this week onward.
If Celtic do not have one or two more deals ironed out before the end of this week, there could be a lot of empty seats at the Dundee game.
And more empty seats from just the holiday absences that most people believe it will be.
Kasper Høgh should be announced today.
Once that’s done, time to move onto the next target.
They need to come thick and fast from here on out.
That’s the only way we’re going to be in any way prepared for the season ahead.

So why would we go for him if we are only prepared to spend 4 million euros?, where do you get this inside info?. Second time i’ve seen comment from someone who apparently thinks he has the inside track, other one saying they added £250k to price for agent or something, again all these people in the know?. This would be quite common i’d guess if indeed true, its chicken feed, and if you don’t like it then you walk away, again makes no sense, and neat excuse for board is only purpose i see it serves.
Funnily all these comments attempt to give the board a get out, thing is though, they make no sense what so ever, especially as any competent business person would not see either as a problem, they would just pay the chicken feed or walk away….
