The Celtic fear has hit Staunch Del already, as he pleas to Ibrox chiefs; “The new signings need to land pretty soon. I need to say that.”

At Celtic, there are 2 signings in the door with the season starting on Monday evening for us at Celtic Park.

In general, Celtic fans are pleased with our attacking options now.

Kasper Høgh and Camilo Duran are quality signings, and we’re all hoping they hit the ground running on come kick off time next Monday.

With the Ibrox side dropping 2 points last night, we now have the option to pull 2 clear of them already.

If that isn’t incentive enough for a win, then I don’t know what is.

To be fair to Celtic, we generally always capitalise on situations like this.

To be honest, I can’t see past a win for us on Monday evening.

In my earlier article, I predicted we’d win 3-0, and I’m going to stick with that.

I’m feeling pretty lucky because I was on the money with my prediction when it came to last night’s result at Tannadice.

I expected the Ibrox side to drop points, and they didn’t disappoint.

Well they did, if you’re an Ibrox fan, but for us Celtic fans – it was the perfect tonic to get the season going.

It’s not a good look for an angry little man who only avoided a touch line ban due to a technicality to storm onto the pitch and berate the officials over a correct call.

I did a pretty humourous analysis of it earlier, and you can catch that in the link above.

Obviously, I love reading the desperate clamouring from the SMSM in the aftermath of a result like last night’s.

They’ve had high hopes for Del and his new charges, that’s for sure.

Barry Ferguson was even quoted as saying he saw a new ‘steeliness’ in them in advance of the season opener.

I love when quotes like this are trashed as early as the first game of the season:

And I’ve seen enough to make me believe we’re about to see a very different version of R*****s when they come running out of that tunnel on Friday night.

Hate to break it to you Barry, but we saw the exact same version of R*****s we saw last season.

They ended last season with a whimper at Ibrox, and they’ve started the new season the exact same way.

But you know what actually blew me away with Derek McInnes’ post match comments?

He has 8 new players through the door, and this is what he had to say, as per this morning’s Record:

It’s those moments, it’s those kinds of quality signings along with the players improving that we’ve got in‑house that makes me really confident that we’re going to have a strong season.

I know the evidence today would suggest we’ve still got loads and loads to do, and I get that, but I do think we have got enough to be encouraged about.

But the new signings need to land pretty soon. I need to say that.

I shit you not.

Could you imagine how we’d feel right now if we had 8 signings through the door?

We’d be on cloud f****n’ 9.

Yet Derek McInnes chose to start yesterday’s game with only 4 of his new recruits, and 7 of the serial losers from last season.

Ivor Pandur, Ben Godfrey, Cameron Devlin, and new captain fat-tastic, Lawrence Shankland, all made their debuts.

In the process, Shankland created an unwanted record for himself.

He only ran 2.6km in the entire game.

This is the lowest for an outfield player in a full SPL match since 2014.

12 years, imagine that?

Dan Neil and former Ibrox fave, Ross McRorie were the only other debutants from the new signings.

They came on as subs, and Dan Neil was then the subject of much ridicule on Follow Follow.

The guy plays one half of football, and they’re hammering him already?

I suppose I can see why McInnes is begging for even more recruits…

Stevie G was the last chequebook manager at Ibrox, it seems that Staunch Del is aiming to be the next.

You know what’s really annoying about this though?

Nobody wants to talk about the fact that at times, Jim Goodwin’s Dundee United played Del’s pretenders off the park.

There six Ibrox stories in the Record this morning, and not one single story commending Jim Goodwin’s side on their result.

Not one.

That doesn’t fit the narrative.

The SMSM has to express their shock at last night’s result from Ibrox perspective, rather than actually acknowledge what Dundee United achieved.

On top of that, they must push the narrative that Staunch Del needs more players.

More players, that’s it.

That’s what’s going to solve all of his woes.

How about trying better football management, Del?

Oh yeah, I forgot, this guy has a glass ceiling.

It appears we saw him hopping his angry heid aff it last night.

Ah well, I’m sure it’ll get better from here on out.
