Celtic board decisions have reached the point where supporters are no longer asking for promises. They are demanding competence.
Two weeks tomorrow, Celtic face what could be the richest match in the club’s history. The rewards for reaching the UEFA Champions League continue to climb every single season. Tens of millions of pounds are within touching distance.
Yet once again, the club approach the defining moment of the campaign looking underprepared.
How can that possibly be acceptable?
Celtic board are running out of excuses
There are now only 11 days left to register players for the Champions League play-off. That deadline has been visible for months, not days.
Supporters have every right to ask why Celtic always seem to be reacting instead of planning.
The reported developments surrounding Farès Ghedjemis only deepen that frustration. If those reports prove accurate, Celtic have been financially outbid by the Ibrox club.
Think about that for a moment.
This is a club that entered liquidation in 2012. Since then, published accounts have regularly shown significant annual losses. Recent figures include losses of around £23.5 million, £17.2 million and £14.8 million in successive years, alongside fresh funding through share issues and loans.
Meanwhile, Celtic have built substantial cash reserves, generated major profits from player trading, sold out season tickets year after year and banked huge European income.
So how does a club operating from such obvious financial strength appear unable to move with the authority its resources should provide?
This is no longer about one winger.
This is about leadership.
It is about ambition.
This is about whether those running Celtic are matching the expectations of a club that should be setting the standard in Scottish football, not watching opportunities drift away while negotiations drag endlessly.
Celtic board risk an explosion of supporter anger
If the board believe supporters are frustrated today, what happens if Celtic fail to qualify for the Champions League three weeks from now?
Would the criticism simply be loud?
Or would it become impossible to contain?
Many supporters would inevitably ask whether this was another self-inflicted wound. Another summer where delay replaced decisiveness. Another transfer window where caution outweighed ambition.
The board cannot say they were caught by surprise.
The fixture dates have been known.
The registration deadline has been known.
The financial prize has been known.
Everything about this challenge has been visible for months.
Supporters are not demanding reckless spending. They are demanding leadership worthy of one of Britain’s biggest football clubs.
With just two weeks tomorrow until the richest game in Celtic’s history, excuses have run out.
The board still have time to change the narrative.
If they don’t, they should not be surprised if supporters conclude that another golden opportunity was squandered through hesitation rather than a lack of resources.

Celtic’s transfer business simply does not make sense, no CEO could possibly run a football club like this. What was actually agreed at the time of the five way agreement, I am not a conspiracy theorist, but no football club would behave like we do

This is their MO, they have done the same thing almost every year, for at least a decade. The only difference this time, is that there are many more supporters awake to it, than the few of us who protested throughout.
There may still be little we can do about it, but the first step was getting the broader support to acknowledge what was going on, and the fight starts now.
Just remember though. It’s not Prickolson’s fault it’s those pesky agents to blame !
