Bhoycie There was a time when Celtic supporters laughed off transfer battles with Rangers.
Not because of arrogance, but because the financial gap between the two clubs had become undeniable.
The Old Rangers went bust. Celtic entered the Domestic Bliss era.
Years of Champions League qualification opportunities. Tens of millions banked. Record profits. Healthy cash reserves.
Yet here we are.
Reports suggest Celtic saw a bid of around £6 million rejected by Frosinone for Farès Ghedjemis, before Rangers reportedly went in with an £8 million offer of their own – and even that wasn’t enough as reported by Sky Sports.

This should concern every Celtic fan.
Not because Rangers have suddenly become financial heavyweights, but because Celtic once again appear to have started negotiations miles away from the selling club’s valuation.
Same old bulls**t time and time again.
Rather than identifying a player, deciding he’s worth the investment and backing whoever the hell it is that identifies these players, Celtic too often seem to test the water with offers you’d think they surely know have little chance of succeeding.
The biggest embarrassment, though, is the optics.
How can we be getting outbid by our closest rivals? A reborn football club with just 1 league title to their name.
Already with a net spend this year dwarfing that of Celtic’s, can still find another £8m to place an offer that makes ours look foolish.
Hot on the heels of them completing another deal for a Japanese player who’s name escapes me.
Nobody expects Celtic to pay over the odds for every player. Sensible negotiation is part of football. But there comes a point where caution becomes hesitation, and hesitation becomes a reputation.
Rumours are Nicholson is a laughing stock to many other CEO’s in football.
Worse than that, it is also suggested many do not want to engage with him or Celtic in transfer dealings such is the amount of fannying around that takes place.
What Celtic cannot keep doing is presenting themselves as a financial powerhouse in annual accounts while behaving like every £100,000 has to be debated in a boardroom before an offer goes in.
Champions League money and a world class player trading model is supposed to widen the gap.
Right now, it feels like it’s only widening supporters’ frustration.

Looks like the plan to me, has done for some time.
It’s just draining every single transfer window day in day out refreshing the pages just hoping for something, linked to about 20 midfielders over the last 2 weeks and here we are with about 5-7 players still needed depending on who we lose and we have t signed anyone, we have lost 14 players and signed 2 , TICK TOCK TICK TOCK , WAKEY WAKEY MICHAEL
The facts are as long as the fans keep giving them our money then why should they care , Misson accomplished. Stop giving them your money or you are complicit in the destruction of our club
Truth is, Celtic make these offers knowing that they will never be accepted, but it makes the fans think they’re interested. There will be no big-money additions to this Celtic squad, it’s all smoke and mirrors by this Board. The only reason they bought Hogh and Duran was because they had the spare cash in player sales. They will not ever use their bank hoard. We need to realise that this Celtic hierarchy is following a carefully crafted plan to downsize its investment in the squad. This has been obvious for a few years now. I’ve given up on them.
