Bhoycie It’s amazing how quickly opinions can be formed in football.
Usually to suit some sort of angle, whether positive or negative.
Kasper Høgh has played one competitive game for Celtic and already there are suggestions from elsewhere that the club’s record signing might not live up to the hype. To me, that says far more about the desperation of Celtic’s rivals than it does about the player himself.
Let’s get one thing straight. Was it a dream debut? No.
Every striker wants a goal on their first league appearance, and Høgh had chances he’ll probably feel he should have taken. That’s how it goes sometimes.
But if people genuinely watched that performance and came away thinking it was worrying or he looks like a dud, I’m not sure we were watching the same game.
The encouraging part wasn’t what happened when the chances came. It was how often he found himself in those positions in the first place.
Høgh’s movement off the ball looked intelligent. He stretched Dundee’s defence, made clever runs into dangerous areas and never stopped looking for the next opportunity.
Those are the qualities that goal scorers are built on.
Just as impressive was his reaction.
Some players disappear after missing an early chance. Høgh didn’t. He demanded the ball again, kept making the same runs and played with the confidence that convinced Celtic to invest so heavily in him.
That mentality matters.
There seems to be a section of Rangers supporters willing him to fail to the point of desperation.
You can understand why. Celtic don’t often spend club-record money on a player, and the thought of that investment paying off is hardly an attractive one from the outside.
But wishing for something and expecting it are two very different things.
Høgh didn’t arrive at Celtic by accident. He has the pedigree, the CV, the swagger and the goalscoring record that persuaded the club to break their transfer record. None of that disappears because of one afternoon in August.
If anything, his debut gave plenty of reasons for optimism.
The chances will come again. More often than not, players with his ability put them away.
As Celtic supporters, there should be no panic here whatsoever.
If rival fans want to convince themselves that one game has exposed Celtic’s biggest signing ever, they’re entitled to do so.
They might just want to be careful what they’re wishing for.
Because if Kasper Høgh continues to get into the positions he found himself in on his debut, it won’t be long before those missed chances become goals.
And once they do, the noise from the other lot will quieten down, very quickly.

People who write him off no nothing about football. I saw glimpses of someone who knows were other player are on the pitch good energy and bravery. He will score about 35 to 40 goals this season.
When the cameras went to. Martin the other night he did not look to great during the game for his own future health he should really think about what he is being put through by incompetent people who could not care less about the treatment towards him as regards signings, always on mute from them and it is left to him to try and fathom out incoming players they should all think shame on themselves hope he gets well soon and think of himself.
