Celtic’s Ajer to help Christie recover from facial injury

Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie suffered a horrific facial injury on Sunday against Aberdeen and his teammate Kristoffer Ajer has vowed to help him with his recovery.

Ajer knows all too well what it is like to suffer a bad facial injury as he had surgery to mend the damage done to himself earlier this season.

With injuries like these, there is also the mental side to get over along with the physical. It can be difficult to get regain the confidence in your game after these incidents, but Ajer has promised to do all he can to help Christie.

Speaking to about the injury, as reported by Football Scotland, he said:

I know how painful this kind of injury can be. Ryan was sent to the hospital afterwards, but I will go and talk to him. I know it’s a really bad injury, but surgeons these days can fix anything, so hopefully, they will do the same with him.

It takes a few weeks to get the belief back that it’s fixed, but once you have that you aren’t too worried. It sums up the mentality of this group that we managed to keep the focus and perform the way we did after seeing a team-mate suffer that kind of injury.

Celtic went through to the Scottish Cup Final last weekend with a dominant 3-0 victory over Aberdeen.

They will face Hearts in the final next month in a game that could clinch them an incredible treble Treble after they won the Scottish League Cup earlier in the season with a victory over Aberdeen.

The Hoops are also closing in on their eighth consecutive league title, with the club just a matter of points away from winning the Scottish Premiership.
