Celtic will travel to the Highlands this Saturday as they take on Ross County in the first domestic match since the international break.
No fewer than 14 Hoops players represented their countries at various levels over the break and there were some standouts.
Odsonne Edouard converted two penalties in two games for France U21s, while Ryan Christie also did the same for Scotland as they salvaged a point against Israel and scraped a win over a makeshift Czech Republic team.
New signing Shane Duffy captained Ireland and headed in a last-minute equaliser against Bulgaria whilst Mohamed Elyounoussi was on target as Norway thumped Northern Ireland 5-1.
Now the players return into the domestic fold, looking to follow on from their impressive 3-0 win over Motherwell just before the break.
New arrivals David Turnbull and Shane Duffy will add something different to the side and may feature this weekend.
Lennon’s men coasted to wins in all three league games over the Staggies last season; 3-0, 4-1 and 6-0 victories to be exact.
Debates will continue over the formation the team should opt for from the get-go. A 3-5-2 gives us freedom going forward and allows us to try and open up the opposition attack.
Here is how we think Lenny might line-up.
GK: Vasilis Barkas
Kept a clean sheet in Greece’s goalless draw with Slovenia on Thursday.
CB: Kristoffer Ajer
A mixed bag for Kris as Norway lost to Austria, but also steamrolled over NIR.
CB: Christopher Jullien
Netted in the win over Motherwell before the break; a real striker’s finish from a centre-back.
CB: Shane Duffy
He may have only signed on-loan last week, but is there any reason why the Irish international shouldn’t start? He played the full 90 in both of Ireland’s matches and looks match fit. Can become a real force at the back beside Ajer and Jullien.
RWB: James Forrest
Opened the scoring in the last league match against Motherwell and featured v Israel for Scotland, however, he was left out of the side for the second match. Lennon will more than likely opt for him at RWB, though I’d personally choose Frimpong from the start.
LWB: Mohamed Elyounoussi
His performance for Norway can’t go unnoticed. Moi deserves a start ahead of Taylor (who didn’t feature at all for Scotland).
CM: Scott Brown (C)
The captain will have used the break to recharge and focus ahead to Saturday.
CM: Callum McGregor
The midfield engine will play a crucial part in unlocking County’s defence.
CAM: Ryan Christie
Two goals in two games for Scotland over the break, albeit they were both penalties. Leaves Lennon with a tough decision in midfield.
ST: Odsonne Edouard
Similar to Christie, Eddy bagged two in two for France U21s, bringing his total to 12 goals in 7 appearances for the national side. Not bad.
Should be fine to come back into the squad despite not featuring against Motherwell. Averaging a goal every game so far, here’s hoping he keeps that up!
ST: Albian Ajeti
Could the Swiss make his first start on Saturday? He’s played a combined total of 35 minutes so far for the Hoops, and already has two goals. He could spark a threatening partnership with Eddy if all things go to plan.
