The latest update on Mika Baur only reinforces what many Celtic supporters have been saying for weeks. If Paderborn want around £4 million, then Celtic should either pay it or move on. Instead, the club appear stuck in another drawn-out negotiation while valuable time slips away.

Roy Keane’s famous line, “Do your job,” feels appropriate here. Celtic have the money. The club are in one of the strongest financial positions in their history. Yet supporters are once again watching another transfer become a public saga over what, in modern football terms, is a relatively modest fee.
This has become an exhausting pattern.
Michael Nicholson’s role is to deliver the deals the football department wants. That means negotiating, yes, but it also means recognising when a deal has reached its conclusion. If the selling club will not budge, there comes a point where Celtic simply have to make a decision.
PENNY PINCHING IS COSTING CELTIC
The reported message from Paderborn could hardly be clearer. Meet the valuation or there is no deal.
Instead of strengthening the squad before the competitive season begins, Celtic remain locked in discussions that appear to be going nowhere. Fans have watched similar stories unfold throughout this transfer window.
Every delay creates uncertainty. Every delay gives rival clubs an opportunity. Every delay leaves Martin O’Neill waiting longer for players who could already be integrating with the squad.
Saving a few hundred thousand pounds might look sensible in a boardroom spreadsheet. Losing weeks of pre-season preparation rarely looks sensible on the pitch.
SUPPORTERS DESERVE BETTER
Supporters have backed the club financially year after year. They have every right to expect ambition when clear transfer targets have been identified.
If Baur is the player Celtic genuinely want, then complete the deal. If he is not, move on immediately and sign someone else.
What cannot continue is this endless cycle of negotiations that drag on while the season rapidly approaches.
The board frequently speak about standards. Those standards should apply in the transfer market as well.

He is doing his right , just not the job the fans want or expect, his job is to spread rumours that we are interested in this player or another , when in fact his job is to spend zilch and spread rumours to keep the fans subdued and you have got say he is doing his job to the letter , stop giving them your money or you are complicit in the destruction of our club
Why are we penny pinching, we pay £1 Million a month to the taxman because we have all this money, just spend it instead of giving to the taxman. I just don’t see the logic in it the more we spend the less tax we pay. Maybe MN likes the taxman
