Celtic fans have become accustomed to celebrating winning the treble over the last few years, but it should be recognised that the club has won the same number of trebles over the last three seasons than they have in their entire 131-year existence.
Today we look back at another group of players who achieved this remarkable success – the school of 2000/01.
Managed by Martin O’Neill, this side were a powerful and combative group of men who had an ethic of hard work sprinkled with the gold dust of a certain Swedish hitman.
O’Neill’s arrival at Celtic Park heralded a new wave of optimism among supporters of this club, who had sat and watched Dick Advocaat’s superstars from across the city roll over everyone on their way to domestic domination for two years.
You could say that this period defined what has become the way for this club ever since, and we have to now look back and acknowledge some of the main members of this team who are now living legends with the new generation of fans.
So here are the key men who gave the club their first domestic treble in over 30 years, and set the bar for those who followed.
